CSD Canteen Working Hours 2024
The Canteen Stores Department (CSD) meticulously plans its operational hours to cater to the needs of its customers throughout the year. Comprising approximately 3700 Unit Run Canteens (URC) and 34 strategically located Depots nationwide, CSD aligns its holiday schedule with that of Central Government Offices across India. The canteens are operational every day, with the exception of weekly off days and Central Government Holidays.
While the weekly off days are determined regionally, the standard opening hours for both Depots and URCs typically commence between 9:00 am and 9:30 am, with Depots closing at 5:30 pm and URCs extending their service until 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to accommodate customers in the evening. This schedule not only adheres to the guidelines set forth by the Department of Personnel and Training but also allows URC staff to enjoy extended lunch breaks for optimal customer service. Despite the possibility of slight variations due to factors such as weather conditions and personnel schedules, the total operational hours for both URCs and Depots are capped at eight hours, ensuring efficient service delivery.

CSD Canteen Weekly Holiday Schedule – Store Closure
The Unit Run Canteen (URC) is an extensive network comprising over 4000 canteens strategically positioned to cater to the needs of Armed Forces Personnel and Ex-Servicemen stationed across diverse regions of India. It is noteworthy that all URC Canteens diligently attend to their patrons, maintaining their doors open on Sundays, which serves as the designated weekly holiday for all beneficiaries. However, within this expansive network, there exists the CSD Canteen—a pivotal component of the URC—operating under a slightly altered schedule. The CSD Canteen follows a unique routine of remaining closed on weekdays, with exceptions extended to Saturdays and Sundays for the convenience of its clientele.
An intriguing aspect of these canteens is the variance in their weekly off days. Most URC canteens observe Wednesday as their designated break day, affording both their staff and customers a respite in the middle of the week. In contrast, the CSD Canteen opts to close on a weekday of its choosing, ensuring its operational presence on all Sundays. This meticulous planning is aimed at facilitating the seamless purchase of non-AFD items by customers, emphasizing the priority placed on customer convenience and satisfaction.
CSD Canteen | Open All Days Except Weekly Off & Central Govt Holidays
The CSD Canteen, a hub of convenience and affordability for service personnel and their families, warmly welcomes visitors most days of the year, excluding only the designated weekly off and Central Government holidays. Whether you are in need of essentials, groceries, or special treats, the canteen is there to cater to your needs.
